Rostering Students


Please ensure you have your Student Data available as described in 'Preparing your Data'.


Adding Students to a Roster (Step-by-Step)


1. Navigate to https://test.arktest.org and login. This will bring you to the dashboard page.

2. Click on the Students tab on the left side of the screen

3. From the students page, there are 2 ways to add new students. Individually using the +New button and as a group using the import function

4. To add students individually. Click the +New button.

5. Next, fill out all of the fields with an asterisk. This includes first name, last name. sex, date of birth, grade level, and Catholic.

6. When you're finished, click Save.

7. Your new student will appear alphabetically in your roster.

8. To add students as a group, first download the import template.

9. In the import template, fill out all the required fields, including first name, last name, date of birth, sex, grade level, Catholic, and School Student ID. Save the file as a .CSV file.

Please note that the fields for email, ESL, Gaps in Catholic Education, Accommodation, and ARK Class ID are optional fields that may also be filled out. However, these fields are not required for upload.

If you do not have a Student Information System with unique IDs for your students, you can see an explanation of how to create your own. 

10. When your file is prepared, click the import button.

11. Select your file.

12. Once you have selected your file and the file matches the CSV format and required headers, the ARK tool will you an option to match your data to the required fields using a field picker.

13. Ensure that all the field pickers match the required data. When you're finished, click Import.

14. Your students will now upload. The progress will be shown in a bar on your screen. When the upload is complete it will read "Data import done". You will be able to see the number of successful imports and their listed names.

Note: You may at this time experience "duplicate students" if students are transferred in from another school using ARK. Please "accept and merge" if the students match the listed data and "decline" if the listed student does not belong.

15. Once your import has been confirmed, click back on the Students tab.

16. Your new students will appear alphabetically in your roster.
