Student Emails and How/Why to use them

When uploading students with the import template, there is an option to add a student email. This column does not need to be filled out to upload the file, however, if you have student emails available it is advantageous to use them.

Student emails can be used to send login links to their test. If ALL the students in a given testing section have emails associated with their account, there will be an option to email a link to all the students at once. They'll receive an email with a link that they can click on, login, and immediately begin their test.

This process saves the time of having to generate student logins and passwords, print them out, and cut them out into tiny strips of paper to distribute to the classes.

In order to use this feature, ALL the students in a given testing section MUST have an email associated with their account and arktest.org must be WHITELISTED on your school's email platform in order for the students to receive the email.

It is NOT recommended to put a parents email in the place where a student email would be. There can only ever be one email associated with one account and often, students will have siblings with the same parent email, causing problems with uploading and creating accounts. The second student to be uploaded with the same parent email will be rejected by the system. Furthermore, having the parents email associated with the account does not give them access to the score of the exam, nor any helpful information about the ARK tool, nor any communication with teachers.
